Cape Coral 3-Day Itinerary 2026: The Perfect Long Weekend

Updated July 16, 2026 · By Blu Luxury Rentals · Cape Coral Locals

Three or four days is the sweet spot for a Cape Coral escape — enough to get on the water, hit a Gulf beach, eat well, and still have a slow morning by the pool. Here's the exact long-weekend plan we give our own guests, built to keep the driving low and the sunsets high. Adjust the order to the weather and you can't go wrong.

Before You Go

Fly & Drive

Land at RSW in Fort Myers, grab a rental car, and you're at the house in 30–40 minutes. Full logistics in our getting-here guide.

Book the Right Base

A Gulf-access pool home puts boating, sunsets and a hot tub right outside your door — and booking direct saves you the platform fees.

Day 1 — Arrive & Settle In

Afternoon: Check In & Unpack

Get groceries at a nearby Publix, drop the bags, and take the first swim. If you land early, stop at the Cape Coral Yacht Club beach on the way in.

Evening: Sunset & Dinner

Head to Cape Harbour or Tarpon Point for a waterfront dinner and your first Gulf-coast sunset. Picks in our best restaurants guide.

Day 2 — Get on the Water

Morning: Boat, Kayak or Paddle

The calmest water is early. Take the boat out from your dock, or kayak Four Mile Cove. Watch for dolphins and manatees — see our manatee & dolphin guide.

Afternoon: Pool & Rest

Come back for lunch, a swim and a nap. This is the whole point of a pool home — don't over-schedule.

Evening: Sunset Cruise

Book a sunset or dolphin cruise out of Cape Harbour, or grill at home and watch the sky from your lanai.

Day 3 — Beaches & Exploring

Option A: Sanibel & Shelling

Drive to Sanibel for world-class shelling and lighthouse beaches — our Sanibel day trip and shelling guide have the details.

Option B: Fort Myers

Tour the Edison & Ford Estates, walk the River District, and (in winter) see the manatees at Manatee Park.

Option C: Fort Myers Beach

Classic sugar sand, the pier, and beach bars — see our Fort Myers Beach guide.

Have a 4th Day? Add This

Slow Morning + Matlacha

Sleep in, brunch by the pool, then drive to the colorful art village of Matlacha for galleries and old-Florida seafood.

Or Baseball (Feb–Mar)

In spring, catch a Red Sox or Twins game — our spring training guide covers tickets and parking.

Local Tips to Make It Easy

Chase the Weather, Not the Schedule

Do water activities in the calm morning; save beaches and indoor stops for breezy or hot afternoons.
