Things to Do in Cape Coral 2026: 25 Best Activities from Locals

Updated July 20, 2026 · By Blu Luxury Rentals · Cape Coral Locals

Cape Coral has more canals than Venice, Italy — over 400 miles of them — plus waterfront parks, a family waterpark, tiki bars you reach by boat, and some of the best manatee and dolphin spotting in Florida. After years of hosting here, this is our honest local list of the best things to do, whether you're traveling with kids, chasing sunsets, or just want to be on the water.

On the Water

1. Cruise the Canals by Boat

The number-one Cape Coral thing to do is simply get on the water. Rent a boat, book a charter, or stay in a Gulf-access home with its own dock. Cruise out to the river, watch for dolphins, and pull up to a waterfront restaurant.

2. Kayak Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve

A 365-acre preserve with a mangrove boardwalk and seasonal kayak rentals. Calm water, birds, the occasional manatee — great for beginners and families.

3. Sunset Cruise or Dolphin Tour

Evening catamaran and dolphin-watching cruises leave from Tarpon Point and Cape Harbour. See our sunset cruise guide for charters and prices.

4. Fish the Canals & Passes

Snook, redfish, tarpon and more. Fish right from a dock or book a flats guide — details in our Cape Coral fishing guide.

5. Paddleboard or Jet Ski

SUP and jet-ski rentals are easy to arrange, especially in the calmer morning hours before the afternoon breeze.

Beaches & Parks

6. Cape Coral Yacht Club Beach

The city's own sandy beach on the Caloosahatchee, with a fishing pier, playground and seasonal snack bar. A local favorite for an easy beach afternoon.

7. Sirenia Vista Park

A quiet waterfront park that's one of the best free spots to see manatees in the cooler months. More in our manatee & dolphin guide.

8. Rotary Park & Butterfly House

Nature trails, a butterfly house, and a popular dog park. Easy, shaded, and great for kids.

9. Jaycee Park

A scenic riverfront park with walking paths, big shade trees and sunrise views over the water.

10. Day-Trip to Gulf Beaches

Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva are a short drive. See our best beaches near Cape Coral and Sanibel day trip guides.

Family Favorites

11. Sun Splash Family Waterpark

Cape Coral's own waterpark with slides, a lazy river and a kids' zone. The go-to on a hot afternoon (open seasonally — check the current schedule).

12. Mike Greenwell's Bat-A-Ball & Family Fun Park

Go-karts, mini golf, batting cages and arcade — a classic rainy-day or evening outing for families.

13. Gator & Wildlife Spotting

You'll see herons, ospreys, and yes, the occasional gator around the preserves. Keep a respectful distance and never feed wildlife.

14. Farmers Market

The seasonal Cape Coral farmers market is a fun weekend morning for local produce, food stalls and crafts.

15. Splash in the Pool

Sometimes the best thing to do is stay home. A heated pool and hot tub keeps the kids happy all day — see our pool homes with hot tub.
